Working with clients with chronic conditions including COPD, I found there was a lot of scientific evidence proving the benefits of Tai Chi and Qi Gong.
I studied, and became certified to teach a Beginners Tai chi for seniors and health, and I offered seated variations as many clients had mobility and balance issues.
Objectives of the Program
Improve muscle strength
Improve balance and mobility and posture
Improve coordination
Reduce stress and anxiety
Increase confidence
Reduce falls
Help regulate breathing, and lower blood pressure
Have a fun social outing
I have seen the benefits of these classes, and did further study in Seated Yoga, Qi Gong, Meditation, Mindfulness, and Chi Ball Exercises for total Mind and Body and Wellness.
Chair Yoga and Tai Chi is also suitable for people with limited mobility, living in wheelchairs and for those who find the conventional floor yoga and tai chi standing is too difficult or have balance issues.
I have provided free short videos on my website and youtube channel. These are designed to be an introduction to some of the movement. As you become confident I recommend joining a class run by a Master of the Art that you will often see in Parks, and take it to the next level.
